TREATMENTS
WHICH
TREATMENT?
PHYSIOTHERAPY
Physiotherapy Massage is the art of manipulating the soft tissues of the body enhance the relaxation of tissue and as an adjunct in healing. Our Physiotherapists are trained in different techniques to assist the body in its function. It enhances muscle function by assisting the control of input from the body’s supercomputer, the brain. Massage can assist in maintaining a healthy musculoskeletal system and providing a base from which other treatments such as muscle stretching and strengthening can be enhanced. It can also be safely enjoyed by almost anybody. What better way to relax!
FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY EVALUATION
This is a specialised area of learning practised by only a few highly trained individuals. The goal is to assess a person’s ability to perform work duties and their ability to sustain movements and different postures required in their workplace. A quality FCE has a musculoskeletal assessment. The FCE process is a systematic and objective evaluation process to ensure the workers safe ability. It can also help answer many
of the critical medico-legal questions in a Worker’s Compensation or Personal Injury case. The FCE is an important bridge between the injured worker and their future.
The WorkEval system is a high quality FCE system that is used by our practice and is
a computerised cutting edge assessment tool.
INJURY MANAGEMENT
When an injury has occurred the Physiotherapist will assess the extent of the injury and formulate a treatment plan that returns the patient to a safe and early return to peak function. Programs are usually made up of education about the problem, restoration of the function of joints and soft tissues and advice about prevention of re-injury. This applies to people from high level athletes, workers or to the weekender who enjoys a few rounds of golf, or is just trying just keep up with the kids!
